Zo wisselend als het weer.
Following the presentation of American Temperature Quilts on Katell Renon’s Ruche des Quilteuses blog, a Facebook group was formed in December 2019 for French quilters to find presentation ideas, advice, encouragement, with all the synergy that a community can offer.
At first the quilter has to select one daily block showing usually the minimum and
maximum temperatures of the day according to a well-defined range of colors and has to determine a global pattern.
And then, day after day, the fabrics would be sewn together following the actual temperature, to make an unpredictable quilt. Potentially added to this are any personal or factual indications such as birthdays, rain and wind, phases of the Moon and, in 2020 and 2021, days of confinement.
Each quilt is both decorative and emotionally rich.
Over the years, these quilts are now famous for their creativity, they bear witness to climate change and disruption wherever temperatures have been recorded.
